HandyWi Team wishes all our users, partners and supporters – Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! This was a fantastic year for HandyWi, we are especially proud of our debut in Nokia Ovi Store and Samsung Applications! Thanks to them HandyWi has reached an important milestone to have 500.000 active users and counting! We also very happy to have a fantastic cooperation with AdMob (special thanks to Aude and Nic) which helped us to become a profitable business this year!

HandyWi at SE&E 2009

HandyWi is going to The Symbian Exchange and Exposition in London on October 27-28. The exhibition was previously known as the Smartphone show, this year it will be held at Earls Court 2 exposition center. HandyWi team will be on the booth of our parent company UAB TeleSoftas. This event is quite important for our project as we are going to show our latest developments and will share the roadmap for the next year. First of all we are going to demo long awaited iPhone and Android versions of HandyWi!! There will also be many improvements on the website like sharing landmarks and FINALY Wi-Fi hotpot search feature!

We will be more then happy to welcome you on our booth number 57! See you in London in a week!!

This news is not directly related to HandyWi, but we are really exited about! FONERA 2.0N, new Wi-Fi router from FON, is finally ready for ordering from FON Shop! Great news for all our team! HandyWi has been selected as Ovi Application of Month by Nokia Switzerland and Nokia Austria, you can find more information about it on their respective websites www.nokia.ch and www.nokia.at

Here is what they say (translated from German) – “HandyWi is a useful program for those who deal frequently with Wi-Fi hotspots. It is easy to use, has many functions and is also available for free.”

HandyWi v2.0.4

Today we published HandyWi v2.0.4 on our website, it’s a maintenance release of HandyWi v2.0, it fixes some UI issues and problems with Themes like OviBlue. We recommend to update to v2.0.4 but it is not a must have requirement! We are not going to force update to this version. We will gradually upload this version to application stores like OviStore, o2litmus, Vodafone BetaVine and others. You can download HandyWi v2.0.4 from www.handywi.com/download

HandyWi on the phone without WLAN

Very often we hear questions like is it possible to use HandyWi on phones without WLAN support, for example Nokia 6210 Navigator or Nokia N73? The answer is definite, yes you can use HandyWi on these phones and benefit from using our Landmarks service, you can upload them to our server and watch online here. However, only only connectivity option you have is 3G or EDGE, as WLAN hardware is missing on these devices. For more information please refer to this FAQ entry.

A Symbian OS v9.4 device, which comes with a full slide-out Qwerty keyboard in addition to full touchscreen facilities, web browsing and email capabilities plus a 32GB internal memory and up to 16GB external memory support. Version v1.2 update

Since today we are requesting all HandyWi v1.2 users to update to v2.0 to benefit from latest features and stability improvements. Update process is easy, simply connect to any WiFi access point and you will see an update page, follow the link provided to download v2.0. For PC Suite or Bluetooth update, download v2.0 from our website and install it over existing v1.2 HandyWi. In case of any troubles feel free to contact us using this form.
You can still use v1.2 client if you like! we will continue to support it, however you will see an update page every time you connect to WiFi.
