Wireless Olympics

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

On 25th of June CHINACOMM started testing its citywide free wireless in Beijing. This project is also know as “Beijing Wicity” and has a goal of providing wireless access during Beijing Olympics in August this year.
Initially they aim to cover around 1 million square kilometers: much of downtown Beijing including the area along the second and third ring roads, CBD, Financial Street, Zhongguancun district.

To give it a try look for CECT-CHINACOMM name in HandyWi hotspot list, the network has no security enabled and no authentication is required so far. Obviously this is only valid for people living or visiting Beijing, China.

We would love to hear your feedback about how HandyWi is working with CECT-CHINACOMM, feel free to send your feedback to info (eta) handywi (dot) com
