Landing page best practise

Monday, December 17th, 2007

Every time you connect to a WiFi hotspot, HandyWi is trying to load a web page located on
our server. We call it – HandyWi landing page. In most cases this connection is done automatically and will not cost you anything as it is done over WLAN.

Nevertheless, in some cases your WEB browser will be configured to always prompt
(aka. Always ask) for an access points before doing Internet connection. In this case you have to select “HandyWi APN” from the list and not one of the GSM operator specific access points.

To illustrate this use case, i will show a few screenshots. Start HandyWi and search for some hotspots, select your hotspot in the list and hit connect.

You will see a couple of progress indicators on the screen, as the last step WEB browser will be started and prompt you for an access point.

Select HandyWi APN

Make sure you selected “HandyWi APN”, after that HandyWi landing will be loading over WLAN free of charge!
